FAQs
How much do kittens cost?
Our kittens are $2,500. We don't require a deposit, and you don't have to pay until you pick up your kitten. We accept cash, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash app.
If you live in the state of Texas, or pick up your kitten from our home in Texas, we are required to charge you 8.25% Texas sales tax. This will be an additional charge of $206.25
If you think this sounds odd/fishy/suspect - this information is easy to fact check on the internet, here is a direct link to the Texas Comptroller website
Here is what their website says:
Pet Sales
Sales of pets are taxable, unless the pet is adopted from a nonprofit animal shelter. Pets are animals such as dogs, cats, guinea pigs, mice, rabbits, fish (that do not ordinarily constitute food for human consumption) and reptiles. [Editor's note: This also includes pets adopted from animal rescue groups effective 10/01/2021, S.B. 197, 87th Reg. Legislative Session (2021).]
Because of this law, I have a sales tax permit and you will be be able to see it when you pick up your kitten.
Will you ship a kitten?
No. If you are within driving distance of Houston, we will work with you to meet you part way. Otherwise we can meet you at George Bush International (IAH) airport and we will hand deliver your kitten to you. Alternatively, if you want to pay for me to fly your kitten to you, I will do that as well. Kittens must fly in-cabin.
Will I be able to register my kitten?
Absolutely! We are a TICA registered cattery, and you will receive everything you need for registering your kitten at the time you receive him/her.
Are there any restrictions I should be aware of?
Yes, there are restrictions that will be spelled out in the contract, such as:
Declawing is not allowed. Kittens will be trained to use a scratching post before leaving our home.
If sold as a pet, kitten must be spayed/neutered. Your registration papers will also indicate your kitten is a pet and cannot be registered for breeding.
This will be an indoor only cat - no free roaming outdoors. (Harness training or walking in a pet stroller is fine)
If for any reason you can no longer keep your kitten, placement in a new home will be mutually agreed upon, or it may be returned to us to find a new home. We love our babies and never want to see them end up in a shelter!
Do you offer a health guarantee?
Yes, we have both a short-term and long-term health guarantee.
Short-term: kitten's health is guaranteed for 72 hours from time of purchase. If a veterinarian finds the kitten to be ill during this period, we will accept responsibility for the vet bills (excluding basic exam fee) during this period, not to exceed the purchase price of the kitten.
Long term: If a latent birth defect is found within 1 year of purchase, we will replace your kitten. You must notify us immediately upon suspicion of birth defect and a written vet report will be required prior to replacement. If the defect is something treatable and you choose to treat, then we will accept responsibility for the vet bills, not to exceed the purchase price of the kitten.
What if I want to breed my kitten in the future?
Our contract will specify if a kitten is for breed, show, or pet. We will only sell breeding rights to reputable, registered catteries that have the same dedication to breeding happy, healthy Maine Coons while also conforming to breed standards. Please do not ask for breeding rights if we don't know you, we won't grant them.
If you are considering becoming a breeder, I highly recommend spending a weekend at a cat show to research the breed thoroughly - speak with other breeders and watch the cats being judged. There is a lot of love, energy, and knowledge that goes into the proper breeding of these amazing cats.
